CDM Co-ordinator

The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007 imposes significant duties upon the Client including ensuring that a CDM Co-ordinator is appointed, where appropriate, & that adequate procedures are in place to manage Health & Safety throughout a project.

This also includes the appointment of a 'Principal Contractor' to manage Health & Safety during the construction phase.

In the role of CDM Co-ordinator Kavannagh Partnership Limited will act as the Clients project advisor in respect of construction health & safety risk management and will manage the flow of health & safety information between Client, designers and Contractor.

In particular this covers the following duties:

Feasibility Stage

  • Inform the Client of his duties under the CDM Regulations
  • Appoint competent designers & contractors
  • Ensure that adequate arrangements are in place for managing the project
  • Notify the Health & Safety Executive about the project & issue updates as required.

Design Stage

  • Co-ordinate design work, planning & other preparation for construction where relevant to health & safety
  • Identify & collect the pre-construction information and advise the Client if surveys need to be commissioned to fill significant gaps

Pre-Contract / Contractor Selection Stage

  • Assess the competence and resources of tendering contractors, and advise the Client accordingly
  • Liaise with the Principal Contractor in relation to the production of the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan
  • Advise the Client on the suitability of the initial Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan and the arrangements made to ensure that welfare facilities are on site from the start of the construction phase.

Post Contract Stage

  • Manage the flow of health & safety information between Clients, designers & Contractors
  • Advise the Client and the Principal Contractor of the Health & Safety implications of any significant change in design
  • Attend site meetings
  • Co-ordinate the preparation of the Health & Safety File

Post Construction

  • Collate information requested from the designers and the Principal Contractor for the Health & Safety File
